DRIVER NOTE / XQC

A code opens a question. A check helps answer it.

How symptoms, records and measurements work together in a useful diagnostic discussion.

Explain the circumstances first

A concern may appear on a cold morning, under acceleration or only after a long drive. Describe what the vehicle did and the conditions at the time. The observation is useful even if you cannot name the cause.

A record needs interpretation

Control units record conditions they detect. A circuit-related code can be associated with a sensor, a connector, its supply or wiring. Targeted checks help separate these possibilities; the code alone is not a replacement instruction.

Ask what the check established

Findings should distinguish an observation from a working explanation. Ask what was tested, what the results supported and what remains open. If an intermittent fault did not appear during the visit, that limitation belongs in the discussion.

Keep a brief history

Note recurring messages and recent repair work. Clearing records immediately before a visit can remove context, so preserve the information where possible. xqc uses that description to discuss a relevant first scope and the next question to investigate.
